Talk us through the proposal

For a little pre-Christmas treat, Mark and I decided to fly to Edinburgh in December last year to see the city and soak up the Christmas atmosphere. Having been a student in Edinburgh, I was excited to show Mark the sights. On our first night, we took in the amazing Christmas Market and a walk along the Royal Mile. We visited the Castle on our second day and after the one o'clock gun was fired we went to the see the Great Hall at the top of the Castle. While I was looking around, a member of staff asked if I would like to see the painting on the balcony upstairs. I must admit, I thought she had mistaken me for someone else, but I was happy to go along with the VIP offer. She led us upstairs to the balcony; it was candle lit and there was a bottle of bubbly chilling on the table below the painting. When I turned to look back at Mark, he was already down on one knee. It was the perfect surprise!!
