Host venue of the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the ISPS Handa World Invitational (2019, 2021-23) and the Home of the NI Open, the Championship Castle Course is the heart of professional golf tournaments in Nothern Ireland.
The NI Open was first played at Galgorm in 2010 and set all attendance records on the European Challenge Tour since its elevation to Europe’s second tier of men’s professional golf in 2013. Former winners include 2023 DP World Tour Golfer of the Year Ryan Fox from New Zealand. In 2024, Dublin’s Conor Purcell became the first Irish NI Open winner.
The ISPS Handa World Invitational
The $3 million ISPS HANDA World Invitational was a unique tri-sanctioned event between the DP World Tour, LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour and held at Galgorm in 2019 and from 2021-23 alongside other co-host venues.
It was a first of its kind event in the northern hemisphere where 144 men and 144 women competed alongside each other at the same venues at the same time and for the same prize money.
The final staging of the World Invitational in 2023 was won by American Alexa Pano in the women’s event and England’s Dan Brown in the men’s event.
Every year, the finals stages at Galgorm threw up dramatic finishes as golf enthusiasts got to witness some of the best players in the game take on the championship Castle Course.
Home favourite Stephanie Meadow wrote her own little piece of history by winning the inaugural women’s event in 2019.
The Irish Open
American John Catlin charged through the field to secure the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open title at Galgorm.
The 2020 Irish Open at Galgorm was the fourth time the prestigious tournament was staged in Northern Ireland since 2012 and the first time the County Antrim venue hosted the island of Ireland’s national Open.
The 2020 Irish Open at Galgorm marked a new chapter in the tournament’s history.
Keith Pelley, European Tour Group Chief Executive, said: “The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open is an integral part of the European Tour’s schedule… We did it with the support of the Northern Ireland Executive who deserve our sincere thanks. We opted to move the tournament to Northern Ireland and are extremely grateful to Gary Henry and everyone at Galgorm for stepping up to host us.”
