Allison & David's Love Story

Love story x Galgorm

The Couple

Tell us a little about how you met & talk us through the proposal

Our love story has been a winding road! We met 13 years ago while working for a tech startup in downtown Seattle. Although the connection was instant, both of us were attached at the time so we settled for a strong friendship. A few years ago we found ourselves single and he asked me out to dinner while on a business trip to my city. It was like no time at all had passed, and we have been together ever since. He welcomed my daughter with open arms and is truly my best friend.

He proposed at the place where he first met his stepdaughter-to-be at Manito Park in Spokane, WA, USA with a picnic basket, a bottle of champagne and the most gorgeous ring in the world. It was so beautiful!

The Setting

Ceremony

The Ghost House - couldn't have asked for a more lovely setting for our intimate ceremony with only family and close friends.

Reception

The Four Seasons Suite - absolute perfection. We especially loved having the grassy area for the kids to run around.

Why Galgorm?

David's family lives in the Belfast area and we knew we wanted to marry in Northern Ireland so they could all be present, and so that his father, a pastor, could marry us. We visited Galgorm a year ago on vacation from the US and it's become our happy place - but given the outrageously beautiful, serene, and posh setting, we'd never have dreamed we could afford to get married there. However when we looked into it, we were delighted to find it was in our budget and never looked back. We feel extremely blessed to have been able to have our big day in such an elegant and romantic location.

Tell us the most memorable part of your day

During the ceremony, my four-year-old daughter climbed into my lap for a snuggle. She'd missed her nap time and crawled into David's lap during the preaching and fell asleep, sprawled out in her flower girl dress, until it was time to stand and exchange vows. Adorable.

The Glad Rags

The Look

I got my dress from Dearly Consignment Bridal (Spokane, WA, USA) - it was an Essence of Australia ivory colored dress with a bit of a boho feel: A-line, sweetheart neckline, with several layers of tule, cotton lace and French lace. Myself and the groom are a little bit country so we both wore boots with our outfits.

The Wedding Party Look

Our colors were eucalyptus and ivory. The guys wore light grey suits with tartan ties/pocket squares in the historical Robb tartan. My bridesmaids chose a dress in any style and any shade of green they liked.
