Tell us a little about how you met & talk us through the proposal
We met at our local church - it was love at first sight (for Matt anyway). We got to chatting when a few of us went to an Ulster rugby match and Matt asked to take me out on a date. The rest is history!
Fast forward 5 years and we were on a city break to Rome. We arrived to a dingey little hotel room with no aircon, lumps for pillows and an overwhelming smell of damp (not my finest research moment). Matt was really annoyed about the fact that there was no safe in the room and I couldn’t understand why, of all the things that were wrong with the place, that was the one he was most stuck on. I suggested we go on a walk to find the Trevi Fountain to get out of the place. To add insult to injury it was about 30 degrees, and the Rome city marathon was taking place, so we were diverted all routes. We FINALLY found the fountain, threw in our coins, and then sat in the sun for a while. Matt eventually plucked up the courage to suggest we get someone to take a photo of us (I should have twigged that something was going on then as it’s usually World War 3 when I want to take pictures). So, there we were sitting waiting for our photo when Matt says, “You’re going to hate me for this” (marathon day brings a lot of extra visitors to the fountain), drops on to one knee and asks me to marry him - it wasn’t a photo at all but a video and now we have the most shocked I’ve ever been, caught on camera lol. We spent the rest of the trip celebrating with (a lot) of the local wine.

Why Galgorm
From the first moment we visited Galgorm for a spa day we knew straight away it was going to be the place we got married. The setting for one is just out of this world and I knew our pictures would be amazing (can now confirm, they are). We booked a wedding appointment and Laura had us hooked from the word go. The personalisation that goes into every single detail of the day is just beyond what any other venue had on offer, and we felt like they had thought of everything. We also wanted the festivities to go on for more than one day and the offer of a day 2 BBQ for our guests that stayed was a real selling point.
Tell us the most memorable part of your day
The whole day was incredible from start to finish but the most memorable part was probably Matt’s speech (or the events that followed it!). Our absolute favourite West End show is Les Mis, so Matt arranged to have secret singers, Singer Secreto, come in at the end of his speech to sing one day more - there wasn’t a dry eye in the room! They then got the whole 120 guests up for a conga line and kept us all dancing until they finished their 6 songs. The only part of the whole day I didn’t plan that is the thing everyone talked about the most (typical!)
