Tell us a little about how you met
We met on a random weekend outside a nightclub in Co.Donegal. He was only in town visiting a friend, we got chatting and a spark was lit. A long distance relationship become a short one fairly quickly.
Talk us through the proposal
We had just returned home after a few nights in Barcelona. A nervous flight home for him, not that anyone knew. Before we got home he got out of the car and proposed at the spot where we first met.
Ceremony
The Phantom House, a fabulous old building with a beautiful courtyard overlooking the River Maine. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor James.
Reception
The Renaissance Suite with its cool art deco feel, we thought it was so fitting for our reception. We didn't have a theme as such, we just wanted to keep everything simple and understated. This room was perfect as it was.
Why Galgorm
We had never been to the hotel before but had heard great things, so we made an appointment with the wedding planner to have a look around. It was a beautiful day in July 2019 and we were just blown away by the venue, grounds and the setting by the River Maine. It sold itself.
Tell us the most memorable part of your day
Aside from getting married during a heat wave I think walking up the aisle of the beautiful Phantom House with the harpist playing the soundtrack of your wedding throughout the ceremony. Our children getting to be a part of the day made us so proud and was particularly memorable.
Advice for future couples
It's true what they say, your wedding day passes by in a flash. If there are memories you want to capture make sure and let your photographer and videographer know in advance. Take time to enjoy your family and friends and have a wee dance. Don't worry about the little details on the day it'll all work out, the staff make sure of it.
Galgorm Wedding Planner
We had the lovely Donna. A pro at her job and very personable. She walked us around the venue and gardens on our first meetin, 3 of our children were with us on the day and were so excited to see some little ducklings in the pond by the river. Donna gave them a Galgorm duck teddy each before we left. It's the little details you appreciate. We decided on our date then and there.
