Tell us a little about how you met

We actually met through mutual friends at Nirvana’s friends birthday. It wasn’t anything romantic just by fluke and the rest has been history ever since.

Talk us through the proposal

Nirvana has always wanted to go to Wicklow (the mountains in the ps. I love you movie). So as a surprise I took Nirvana to Powerscourt hotel to stay for a night, we then went to Powerscourt gardens after a walk around and I got down on one knee and popped the question. The next day we then drove through the Wicklow mountains and finally stayed in an old castle hotel (another dream of Nirvana’s).

Why Galgorm

We were initially meant to get married in Portugal with close family but due to travel restrictions changing last minute we decided not to go ahead. We still wanted to get married sooner rather than later so after discussion we thought we would chance our arm to see if Galgorm was available as it's somewhere we’ve always enjoyed going together as a couple for the spa or dinner. After getting in contact with Galgorm they were more than happy to take on the challenge of turning a wedding around in 10days for us! Our wedding planner Donna was very brave in taking it all on at the last minute, but she was amazing. We couldn’t thank her enough for everything she did for us. Nothing was a hassle no matter what ideas we suggested, and everything was pulled off exactly how we would have liked. Also having Shane by our sides throughout the day was a blessing, he made sure everything ran so smoothly and there wasn’t a thing we needed to worry about!

What made you choose a Resort location

We liked the idea of everything being in one place which made it easier for us as a family with two children and our guests. To get married at the resort, photographs, dinner, and our night party all in the same location saved so much stress and travelling on the day.

Tell us the most memorable part of your day

The most memorable part of our day will always be how small and intimate our day was. With only 32 guests we were able to have the people we really wanted there. The day was relaxed, stress free and intimate (which suits us as a couple). Also landing at Galgorm in a helicopter won’t be forgotten easily either.

Advice for future couples

Do not try and get married abroad during a pandemic! If you do and it doesn’t work out, Galgorm will save you!
