Tell us a little about how you met
Lee and Andrew met at Galgorm on the 22nd December 2017. They didn’t realise it at the time but they had both been going to Galgorm as a Christmas tradition for the previous few years but their paths just hadn’t crossed.
Andrew spotted Lee in the spa that afternoon- swimming past him in his wee pink swimming shorts and from that point the rest was history. They got chatting in Gillies that evening, had arranged another date before Christmas and Andrew was meeting Lee’s family by Boxing Day. Lee and Andrew both knew it was fate between them and it wasn’t long before they were sale agreed on a house, and Andrew was planning to propose. When you know, you know!
Talk us through the proposal
It was Andrew who had decided that he was going to pop the question and with a holiday to the Amalfi coast planned for that summer, it was the perfect opportunity. After a romantic meal at a rooftop restaurant, Andrew took Lee for a walk through the streets of Sorrento- trying desperately to find one that was free of tourists and passers-by. Eventually, Andrew found the perfect spot and got down on one knee and asked Lee to marry him. Of course, Lee’s answer was YES and they immediately got to work on planning the best day of their lives.
Ceremony
The Phantom House- as we were having a Christmas wedding the Phantom House was the perfect choice to give our guests the intimate feel we wanted for our ceremony. We also had mulled wine on the stove at the back for all the guests on the day so the whole room just smelt of Christmas spices. It was perfect!
Reception
The Great Hall- we loved the grandeur of the Great Hall and we just thought it was the perfect fit for our Christmas wedding.
Why Galgorm
As it's the place where both of us met, it was a no-brainer to pick Galgorm as the venue for our wedding. Nowhere beats Galgorm in our eyes- hence why we just keep coming back time and time again- it’s our happy place.
Of course, the incredible staff, the out-of-this-world spa facilities and incredible food helped too!
What made you choose a Resort location
We wanted to prolong our celebrations as much as possible and choosing a resort location was perfect for this.
On the day before our wedding, we were able to enjoy some relaxation time at the spa with our wedding party (our groomsmen and groomsmaids) and our parents before heading over to Castle Kitchen for a rehearsal dinner!
The day after the wedding, we arranged to have a post-wedding brunch in Gillies. All of the guests were able to enjoy breakfast together, over a mimosa of course, before heading back home to get sorted for Christmas.
We stayed an extra night at the Red Oaks with Lee’s family- it was the perfect ending to the best couple of days.
Tell us the most memorable part of your day
Andrew: The most memorable part of our day, for me, was the ceremony. Emma Bailie (our humanist celebrant) did such a perfect job of making our ceremony personal and special for us. There were plenty of tears shed throughout the ceremony, but equally as many laughs too. It was just such a beautiful moment, finally becoming Mr Scott-Mulholland surrounded by all our amazing family and friends.
Lee: After lockdowns and covid restrictions, it was great to celebrate the happiest days of our lives surrounded by all our family and friends. Our wedding was just the perfect day from start to finish but the best bit for me was the fireworks display from Nemisis Fireworks- the best ending to the most amazing day!
Advice for future couples
Don’t even waste your time looking around other hotels. Nothing will ever compare to Galgorm. Fact.
Galgorm Wedding Planner
The amazing Donna Cunningham. Donna is worth more than her weight in gold. Thanks to Donna the whole day just flowed so perfectly. In the run-up she was always so approachable and she made us both feel so valued and special every step of the way. Lee and I are big fans of Donna, and we were so glad that we’re now able to call Donna our friend!

We Are Soulful (Tony): We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better photographer to capture our day. It was important to us that we felt that we could enjoy the day as much as possible and we didn’t want to be out taking photos all day. Tony was brilliant. So laid-back and made us feel so at ease.
Videographer
Rabbit and the Fox Films (Ricky). Ricky was also excellent and we loved how laid back he was too. He just faded into the background and captured all those amazingly candid moments just perfectly.
