Louise & Tim's Wedding

The Couple

Tell us a little about how you met

Tim and I both grew up in Antrim but never met, and we both moved away to live in various cities across the world including New York, Manchester, and Liverpool. It wasn't until Tim and I moved back home again, that we finally met.  And then came to realise that we had both lived in the same cities at the same time but just never crossed paths.

Talk us through the proposal

Tim and I both enjoy a day climbing in the Mourne Mountains. So off we set, on a regular wet and windy Saturday in September, to climb Slieve Bearnagh. Not letting the weather get to us,  as Tim had mentioned he had brought some cake to enjoy at the top.  'Great,' I thought, 'a little treat, we should have brought some tea!' So we had our lunch and enjoyed the view. Tim started to walk about looking for the perfect spot to have our cake.  So after a while of walking in circles and between the rocks, I declared 'I'm having my cake here!' and sat down on a rock. So Tim handed me the cake tin, and I began to open it. Still not realising what was going on, I thought, 'these look like fancy cakes' and then I saw the small box in the middle of the tin, surrounded by roses. Tim was on one knee and asked me to marry him! And of course, I said YES!

Why Galgorm Resort & Spa

After visiting a few wedding venues we decided on the Galgorm Resort. We fell in love with the setting, the amazing hotel, and spa, with a beautiful river along side the resort. This combined with the friendly and welcoming first meeting with Rose, we just knew that all our wedding preparation was in safe and professional hands.

What made you choose a Resort location

Choosing a resort location really took a lot of the stress out of organising our wedding. With everything under one roof, we really could relax and enjoy our day!

Tell us the most memorable part of your day

The ceremony was the most memorable part of our day. We found the Phantom Room to be the perfect setting for our relaxed and intimate ceremony.

Advice for future couples

Take time, don't stress and enjoy the preparation. We really loved our visits to the Galgorm Resort, (especially the Gin Library and the spa!) meeting various people and business along the way, as the excitement builds towards our big day!
