We met over 7 years ago in our local bar, though friends we had in common. We exchanged numbers and got to know each other, only to find out we lived just around the corner from each other. Matthew used to hang out with my eldest brother in our estate and was in the same year at school as my other brother but never knew I existed. Matthew asked me to be his girlfriend a few weeks later and we've been inseparable ever since.
Talk us through the proposal
We got engaged on 2nd October in Belfast in 2015. My birthday was on the 3rd October and my mum had organised a party. Matthew suggested taking me to Belfast to buy me an outfit for it. We were walking around the city and I joking pointed to Lunn's Jewellery shop, saying to Matthew "you could always buy me a ring hint hint". Matthew turned to me and said, "Well you didn't think we came the whole way to Belfast to buy a dress did you?" I was speechless at that point but continued to follow Matthew to Gardiner Brothers Jewellers. When we got outside Matthew turned to me and said "So will you marry me then?". Still in shock I finally managed to say the words "Yes!" We picked the most amazing ring, had a drink after to celebrate and then headed on the next train home to tell the family.

Why Galgorm Resort & Spa?
Galgorm is one of our favourite places to go for dinner. We've always admired the beauty of the hotel and the grounds surrounding it. It was top of our list for wedding venues, in fact it was the only venue we looked at. We both fell in love with the Four Seasons suite when we had our show- around the resort. We loved how intimate and romantic the room felt, perfect size for the numbers we were expecting.
What made you choose a Resort location?
The Galgorm Resort was perfect for us and our guests, being so close to home. The Galgorm was perfect as we not only had the most beautiful room for our reception but we got to enjoy the stunning grounds for our photographs. The guests that stayed overnight were accommodated for and we loved being able to meet up with everyone for breakfast the next morning. We've stayed at the Galgorm many times and always enjoyed spending time in the spa, we couldn't think of a better way to spend the morning after the wedding.
Tell us the most memorable part of your day
The whole day was memorable but the highlights being our wedding ceremony, spending time celebrating with family and friends at Galgorm and seeing everything we planned come together perfectly. We wish we could just relive the day all over again!
Advice for future couples
Planning a wedding can be stressful but it will all come together. Take a few minutes together alone to take it all in but most importantly just enjoy every single minute of your day!
