Tell us a little about how you met
We met in 2012 when we were both first year’s at QUB. Peter, one of my friends from school had become a good friend of Dermy’s and introduced us at a house party. We still haven’t forgiven him...
Talk us through the proposal
We were about halfway through our holiday in Dubrovnik and out one night. After dinner we decided to go for a walk along the pier and sat down at the end of it to admire the view. I was turned away, Dermy pulled out a ring and romantically proposed with the words “Don’t make a scene, here take this”. … Next thing I knew, I had mascara down my face (how did that happen?) and before I could say yes, two kids in a boat came towards the pier, looking like they were in distress.
Dermy threw the ring at me before jumping down to help them dock. Five minutes later I made Dermy ASK the actual question, the ring was placed safely on my finger and two wet Croatian kids were securely back on land.
What made the moment even more special was that he unknowingly proposed to me on what would have been my Granny’s 100th birthday.

Why Galgorm?
We viewed several potential venues but walking back to the car after our initial meeting, we knew that Galgorm would be the one. Both of us grew up in the country and loved the idea of our wedding photos being taken on the stunning grounds. Credit also has to be given to our planner Donna – she couldn’t have been more helpful and essentially sealed the deal.
We also loved the bridal open days that Galgorm host. We were some of the first of our friends to get married and so had no idea how to go about choosing our suppliers. We shouldn’t have worried however- after spending a few hours at one of the open days we had met and chosen most of our vendors. (And left full of cake)
What made you choose a Resort location
For us the Resort was a perfect choice as a lot of our guests would be driving from Co.Tyrone, or flying from the mainland. The Resort provided plenty of rooms to accommodate them and our guests were buzzing to use the spa facilities the next morning.
Tell us the most memorable part of your day
For me, I think it was getting to have the father-daughter dance with my dad. We're very close and it was extremely emotional.
For Dermy, I imagine it was being served his first pint...
Advice for future couples
Enjoy your day, don't stress about any of the little things.
Try to take a 10 minute break from the reception and steal your new husband/wife for a walk and a catch up - you spend surprisingly little time together throughout the day!
