Tell us a little about how you met & talk us through the proposal
We met at a bar in Portstewart on a night out with friends. Adrian proposed on our cruise balcony sailing through the Norwegian fjords. He was meant to propose at the top of a mountain hike but there was no one around to record the moment and he wanted it to be on camera! Although he still refuses to watch it… I had no idea it was happening. He chose a perfect ring for me too!
Ceremony
The Phantom House. A very easy decision as the setting is just stunning. So cosy and rustic especially in the winter months with the fairy lights. We had mulled wine brewing at the back, scented candles scattered around and live acoustic music playing. It was the cosiest atmosphere and felt so intimate. The photos reflect that!
Reception
We had our reception in The Renaissance suite. So classy and comfortable with a picturesque Art Deco bar at the back of the room. The ceiling to floor windows glowing with the river in the background and cosy mood lighting really sealed our decision to go with this room.
Why Galgorm
We chose Galgorm because it has it all. We wanted our day to be as enjoyable for our guests as it was for us and we knew the Galgorm would excel at making sure that happened. From the impeccable staff, insanely good food, welcome cocktails and setting - we could not fault the venue at all. We felt like royalty from the moment we stepped through the doors. All of our guests commented on how perfect the day was.
We chose to have the entire day at the resort because we simply did not need to go beyond the grounds. It had everything we needed and wanted.
Galgorm staff (particularly both our wedding planners Bronagh & Kim) guided us through the nightmare of covid restrictions, cancellations and postponements. They stayed so calm throughout and remained so honest with us from day 1 which was extremely appreciated in such uncertain times. We had to postpone our day for 1 whole year but everything remained perfect.
Tell us the most memorable part of your day
The most memorable part of our day would be the ceremony or the first dance. Those moments felt so surreal but I equally found those moments the time when I was most aware that it was our day and it was really happening.
Advice for future couples
Any advice I would have for future couples would be - don’t stress about the small stuff and definitely don’t stress about things you have no control over. We got married on the only Named Storm of 2021 but I would take the storm again to have the same day over and over!
Galgorm Wedding Planner
We had Bronagh & Kim. Such lovely girls, so attentive and personal. Nothing felt like a bother to them and I loved our chats.
