Finding the right jewellery and accessories for you and your bridal party can seem complicated but it’s actually not at all! As with all aspects of your wedding planning, it should be fun, so try to book your appointments in advance to avoid last-minute stress.
I’ve been blessed with The Little Pearl Co. to have advised and helped hundreds of beautiful brides wearing my jewellery, shoes and accessories over the years. One thing I know for sure, the bride always knows best!
Here are some quick tips that I tell my brides every day that will help you on your way to completing you and your bridal parties look on the big day.
Don’t follow them! By all means, draw inspiration from Pinterest or Instagram but you know better than anyone what will make you feel comfortable, special and make sure it matches “your own style”. What’s on-trend now will certainly not be in 10 years' time, so it’s more important that you feel like you!
The neckline is a good place to start when it comes to making a decision on earrings and necklaces. I always encourage my brides to go for statement pieces, only if they feel comfortable. You want your dress to ‘wow’ and you need to make sure your accessories do everything to enhance that, not take away from it or indeed fade into the background.
With heavily detailed dresses, I always recommend going for more subtle pieces and then vice versa if the dress is very chic and simple.
Tip: If your dress has a low back, definitely consider a stunning backdrop necklace. Stun your guests as you stand in front of them at the venue!
A well-placed headpiece can do wonders to transform your big-day look. When you have picked your hairstyle there are many options to attract some well-deserved attention to that stunning hair.
You should also consider your hair type—dainty accessories may be perfect for fine hair, but won't be as noticeable in thick waves. Simple vines folded subtly into the styling or pretty pins and combs can really finish that perfect hairstyle you are looking for. If you are having a veil, a hairpiece or comb really completes the look.
Brides are often Unsure about a Bracelet on their wedding day but for me, it’s an absolute must! A bracelet is far enough away from anything in the hair or earrings and very often is the final piece to lift a dress. Even something very fine and simple could be just what you need to take away the bare look from your arms.
There are no rules! Just because you go for silver, doesn’t mean your girls can’t be in gold. Jewellery is very often a gift from you and a lovely souvenir from your day, so why not choose something you know your bridal party will love and use over and over again. My Swedish designer ‘Lily & Rose’ offer miniature versions of their pieces which are the perfect way to tie in the brides' jewellery and her bridal party.
Although it's a special day, don't stray too far from ‘you’. If you rarely wear jewels, there's no need to drown yourself in sparkles on your wedding day. The goal is to look and feel like the best, most beautiful version of your regular self.
